UEZ Job Creation Loan
Trenton offers low-interest loans to local businesses. The funds aim to boost hiring, with potential loan forgiveness benefit when hiring employees that live in the city. The program offers a loan at 3% interest, maxing at $250,000.
Energy Sales Tax Exemption
Qualified manufacturers may apply for an exemption from sales and use tax on electricity and natural gas utilities used at the UEZ-certified site.
Reduced Sales Tax
The New Jersey Division of Revenue and Enterprise Services issues UEZ certificates to qualified businesses, allowing those businesses to collect Sales Tax at the reduced rate of 3.3125% on most sales of tangible personal property when the sale physically occurs at the qualified business’s location within the zone.

Sidewalk Repair Program
The City of Trenton UEZ offers funding to repair sidewalks in commercial corridors at no cost to property and business owners. While City Code typically requires property owners to maintain the sidewalks in front of their properties, the UEZ program can cover the full cost of these repairs, though certain restrictions may apply. To qualify, at least two businesses on the same block must become certified UEZ members. Certification is free, and assistance with the process is available at City Hall.
